BasicsRobots are trying to get from one side of the map to another, and it's your job to stop them by building and upgrading some defense towers. There is always at least one entrance, and there is always an exit directly accross from each entrance.
The robots will always exit directly accross from where they entered. Should a robot reach the exit, you can assume that it does something terrible, because it reduces your health by 1. Your health is that little number inside the heart near the top of the screen. DetailsTo start a game, tap 'New Game' from the main menu and choose a level. In the full version There are several maps to choose from. The basic level is the easiest, and each map after that gets increasingly harder, with the exception of the VR Training level. From this selection screen, you can also pick a difficulty level.
There is no maximum difficulty level. Each time you complete a difficult level ending in 0, you will gain access to the 10 difficulty levels that follow. Be warned that in order to have a prayer on higher difficulty levels, you must upgrade your stats (more on that later).Since this game uses open maps, you can place the towers wherever you want, as long as there is nothing currently occupying that space and the robots still have a path to the exit. If you want to create a straight shot gauntlet of death, go for it. If you want to make them walk a little, that's an option too.
Part of the fun is trying different tower configurations that punish the 9 different kinds robots appropriately, so that they can't escape. ControlsThe three basic towers can be placed by dragging a tower from its icon onto the play field and releasing it onto an open square. Once a tower has been placed, tap it, and it can be sold or upgraded into different kinds of towers or more powerful versions of the current tower.
To close the upgrade window, simply tap anywhere outside of it. There are 9 different types of towers with varying degrees of upgrades. Be sure to experiment to discover which types of towers and tower layouts work best against the various enemies. At the bottom of the play screen are two red buttons that you can go through a whole game without touching, but they are useful nonetheless. The first is the pause button. When you press this, the action stops and you can scroll around to see what's happening around the map and admire the killer visuals.
You cannot place towers while paused, because that's just not very sporting. The second button is a fast forward button it will make time go three times as fast so that you don't have to wait for robots to walk to their doom. To restore normal time, simply hit the play button that appears.
Sweet RewardsYou'll notice that when you destroy a robot, you get two things, cash and points. Cash is displayed above your health and can be used to buy additional towers or upgrade current ones. Points, however can be used from the main menu to purchase permanent upgrades that will apply to all future games. Even if you lose a game, you can have the consolation that the points you earned will make you more powerful for the next game! Keep in mind that you will get bonuses for playing higher difficulties and completing rounds without letting robots through.
If you are having trouble completing a level, try earning some more points for upgrades. If you are a master tower defense player, maybe you want to challenge yourself by completing as high a difficulty level as you can with minimum upgrades. You may have noticed an achievement section accesible from the main menu. From here you can view all of the various acheivements that are available to earn while playing. You'll know when you unlock an acheivement as a congratulatory message will tell you so. You will also get some sweet, sweet bonus points added to that game's score! Each acheivement will also add to the bonus of every game you play. Acheivements can be great ways to challenge yourself to try new strategies and really learn the game.
Tips- Plan ahead. Remember that you can pause at any time to survey the situation and decide what you are going to do next.- There is no penalty for losing a game. Playing a throw away game to figure out the strengths and weakness of different towers and tower configurations can be a very useful method for becoming a stronger player.- Even if you think you've found the perfect tower layout for a given map, keep trying new ones. It keeps the game fresh and you might find something that works even better.- The longer you can keep a robot on the screen, the more damage you can do to it. There are more ways than one to accomplish this.- When deciding which towers to upgrade, spend money on the towers that robots will spend the most time around.- If you spend all of your money trying to defend against ground units, air units will ruin your day.- In the VR Training level, the number of entrances and exits are determined by the letter at the beginning of the code you are asked to enter.
The remaining four digits of the code will create a unique set of obstacles, meaning that there are 40,000 possible layouts. If you played this level with fast forward on, 12 hours a day, every day, it would still take you over 5 years to play all of the combinations. When you can't decide what level you want to play, this is a good place to start. If you find a combination that you feel creates an especially sick level, feel free to share that code with others so that they can try it. I'll have to read through this when I get a chance. This is long, long overdue. I love your game, and at the same time I want to crush my phone now.
I keep dying on the second board when I hit the 80's. Up till then things are going pretty good.Need a way to do our own screen shots. Maybe even (dare I hope) a replay feature. So you can review strategy.Maybe a cheat mode to roll back and switch your layout (this would require keeping an undo history, obviously). In any case, good game. I'm going to break my phone, though. The points from killing robos aren't actually increased by integer factors; however, when you kill multiple robos in a very short time, the points earned get collapsed into each other on the display.
For example, if you have a score of 15,000 and then kill a large number of robos that are each worth 100, the score display will initially look something like 15,000 + 100 + 100 + 100 + 100, but might eventually look like 15,800 + 100 + 100 + 300, even if every robo killed was worth 100. When the list of point values being added to your score gets too long to fit on the line, some of them just get added to each other before they are added to the total score.I have documented the points earned for different robos on different difficulties and levels, and I'm confident I understand how it works. Every robo has a basic value, the value it has in level 0-1. (Of course, level 0-1 only contains a single soldier robo; however, the value for any robo on level 0-1 can be extrapolated through linear regression.) On each subsequent level, the robo's value increases by 1/10 the base value. And for each higher difficulty, the value increases by 8 times that, or by 4/5 the base value. For example, droppers have a base value of 70; if you could encounter a dropper on 0-1, it would be worth 70 points.
So, suppose you defeat a dropper on 20-65. The slope (increase per level) is (1/10).70 = 7 points. An increase of 20 difficulty thus gives 8.20.7 = 1120 points, and an increase of 64 levels (the increase from a starting point of 1, not 0) gives 64.7 = 448 points.
So the dropper would be worth 70 + 1120 + 448 = 1638 points.I believe the base values are as follows (and bear in mind that these are my own invented names for the robos, as I believe only 'titan' and 'dropper' have been mentioned by Lupis Labs):Soldier - 1.4Runner - 1.4Fat Soldier - 3Racecar - 6Tank - 12Helicopter - 12Plane - 14Big Mecha - 30Bomber - 40Dropper - 70Titan - 600I believe that the soldier and runner, having a non-integer base value, may have a rounding error in their calculations; they are always worth about 1 point less than the calculation suggests. The fat soldier may also be short 1 point on all levels, for no obvious reason. I believe the dropper, which was added to the game after all the other robos, also contains an error; it always seems to be worth 7 points too many, as if the base value were accidentally assigned to a level of 0-0, with 0-1 already having the slope added once. I got the answers to most of the questions, I actually bought the full version, and the difference of the towers between light, med., and heavy is the damage that the tower gives to the enemy. In the case of ice towers, It shoots faster, and freezes them longer, gun and missile damage is increased in heavy.fire towers are only good in free version, and mortars are extremely strong in full version.to use teleport towers put the ice tower were the enemy or plane would normally have to pass through, upgrade ice tower to unarmed teleport tower, then arm it for 3$ once seeped it will teleport them to the beginning: note it will be a one time use and to reload it, select it and re-arm it. Same for mine towers.free version limits the upgrade level, and upgrading towers causes a higher damage, even if it is light towers.level ten has a flying saucer that drops the weak enemies and can take a lot of damage.Idk what else to say except that the Titan is a giant robot that takes tons of damage, even if all towers are upgraded at level 20, and vr A2739 is a 18 X 10 level that has no obstakles, single entry/exit, that starts on the right, and ends on the left. AnonymousGreat game.
Far too addictive really.I think the key is spending your reward points wisely (and seriously, buy the full version, its worth it, since you get to encounter far more enemies). I find that rocket based towers are the most effective, because they're more powerful and more effective against aircraft in base form. So far I can get perfect games on level 220+, which will generate something like 8 million reward points per game, assuming I sell down towers to get more money. If you end up with more than like $3000 at the end of the game, you can get more than a million reward points just for that.Teleport towers I think are key later in the game for getting perfect games.
I find that 4 provides a good balance between having a long enough maze, and having enough time to reload your teleports to catch those pesky waves of jets and helicopters that can really kill your score. You'll need to start out, if you're just getting started, by buying money upgrades so you can afford more rocket towers at the beginning. Those are pretty key: I like to have at least 4, along with some machine gun towers to flesh out the route I want them to take. I keep my machine guns around the edge, and my rockets in the middle where they can range on the aircraft.
Then you're going to want to spend your money on explosive power, rocket reload, and when you start getting ruined by aircraft, on AA missile reload speed, which, later in the game, will have to be the fastest reload of any tower.Unlock teleport towers as soon as you can. I have not really used mine towers much, so I can't speak to those. At 63 I am trying my Xoom out on your game. I am not a gamer, so it would be nice to have an auto-mode where game-LAME butts (like me) can be entertained and LEARN by example. Now sending birds via slingshot I can get. BTW I have had an iPad since day one, so there is ONE benefit to being an OLD FART - you can at least look cool with your gadgets. I also had the first cell phone in Los Angeles in 1982 - you had to say OVER like a marine radio but it was a landline-operator listening in.
$1.00 a minute and the phone cast $4k to custom build.my first month's bill? Love, love, love this game! Got my 1st smartphone last Oct, found the free version shortly thereafter, & haven't looked back. Addictive as all-get-out. Great upgrade back in March.Daniel, I can't believe the Titan hasn't shown up; I'm only around level 330 & I've seen it a half-dozen times or so. He's usually halfway through the course before I realize it's him because I'm paying attention to the front wave of attackers. He's slower than what I call the 'Iron Men' ($10 robots), I thought the Titan was kinda anticlamactic: once I've got my defenses to the point they'll stop a wave of 10-12 'Iron Men', they'll stop the Titan, so it's not like I have to scramble to stop it.
You get $250 for killing it, though.Crimson Falc (1/5/11) has a lot of great advice. I used to be a total rocket guy, but lately am favoring the artillery; they cost more, but man, several artillery pieces scattered around will do some serious damage!
Plus, with a range of 5 squares, they can pound a robot for a looong time. Nice play, i also finished it but too bad a few lives were lost, due to an error in reactivating the transport towers. My tower levels:Stronger bullets: 26Stronger Explosives: 33Faster Rocket Reload: 34Faster Antiair Reload: 31Faster Artillery Reload: 25Longer Flame Burn: 30Longer Slowdown: 30Health reward: 37 (56 lives)Starting cash reward: 33Note i only used rocket towers, slowdown towers, transport towers (4), rocket anti-Air (6) and some few bullet towers used at beginning then replaced by rocket towers. I usually use the mortal tower and few flame throwers but in this survival round i didnt. I am and have been adicted to this game for more than 12 months. I am currently at Level 414 and havel played all areas except VR to the point of mastery. Yes, my 14 year old son thinks I am 'Lame' for spending so much time on this. But, hey who's going to tell me 'No!' Here is my question.
I have accumulated over 300 million points (again) and when trying to update 'Starting Cash Reward' or 'Health Reward' each one states increase base health or starting cash 'BY' 52 for health, or 240 for cash. Believe me, it never adds that much! It only increments by 5! Each reward becomes more expensive(not really a problem) but I want to be able to do more.
Buy back lives?, Buy a stronger weapon? With 24 or more updated missile towers, how come I cant kill all the jets?
I want to DOMINATE this silly game but I need your help. Such an addictive game. Just want to tell my huge performance.
